Each of these is designed to hold on its own. The point of layering them is that no single failure anywhere in the assembly puts anything on the floor below.
Hanging Structure
The part that has to hold for twenty years over an occupied floor.
- IS 2062 M.S. tested raw material throughout
- Welded by certified welders, not general fabrication labour
- Fasteners selected with an additional safety factor over calculated load
- Nyloc nuts used throughout — no plain nuts anywhere in the assembly
- SS wire rope wrapped around every bolted joint as secondary restraint
Blade Mounting Hub
A single component carrying the entire blade assembly.
- Single piece diecast LM6 aluminium grade — not fabricated or bolted from sections
- Radiography tested for internal cracks before it reaches assembly
- Machined to seat every blade at the same pitch angle for balance
- Aluminium HE9 grade used for the mounting interface
Motor To Hub Coupling
The joint where a failure would be most consequential.
- Fail-free couplings specified for the overhung load an HVLS hub applies
- Additional S clamps at the coupling interface
- Anti-fall S bends fitted to prevent hub fall-out in the event of coupling failure
- Reinforced bearing in the gear motor rated for the sustained radial load
Blades
Five aerofoil sections turning at height, continuously.
- Aluminium blades with the broadest section available in the market
- Two ribs along the blade for additional structural strength
- Internal wire rope wrapping inside each blade as an anti fall-out measure
- Protective coating on blades and hub, glossy black or matt black as standard

Third Party Verified
TUV Nord is an independent certification body. The CE mark on an Austar AS geared fan is the result of their assessment, which is what allows the geared range to be specified where a self-declared mark would not be accepted. The ASGL gearless range is built to comply with the same CE requirements.
